Nilesh Desai
Before moving to New York in August 1997 for my Masters Degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Pratt Institute, I lived in Mumbai, India. I was introduced to Shrishivaleelamrut after marriage by my wife Mugdha. After reading this book few times and inspired by the divine message I decided to share it with aspirants and devotees around the world by translating this book in English language. Since Mugdha was familiar with this sacred scripture she assisted me from time to time throughout the entire process of English translation of this book. I started the translation of Sartha ShriShivaleelamrut book on July 15th, 2007 & completed my preliminary draft on February 16th, 2009. This book has inspired me to pursue Spiritual goals while performing routine duties of everyday. I wish its readers and listeners too benefit from it.

It all began as a childhood habit. As a resident of Thane, before moving to New York after my marriage, was encouraged by my mother to read Shrishivaleelamrut daily to inculcate good reading habits. But with time I started decoding the implied meaning hidden behind the text and realized that I had to share what I gathered from it.
The meaning of the text gave me immense satisfaction and joy. Hence, I thought of sharing this joy and attempted Marathi translation. In fact, the book itself endorses this view. It says, when you understand the book you will let others know it and that's the real offering or service to God.
I hold a Bachelors degree in Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunication) from Mumbai University, took two years to translate the work. I started translating the 435-pager from 2004 and completed it in year 2006. I am happy that I could do my bit and work on a book originally written by Veda Vyasa in Sanskrit in Skanda Purana.
I truly feel fortune & blessed that I’m given another chance to assist Nilesh with the English translation of Shrishivaleelamrut book. In the form of this book we offer our sincere and humble prayers at the lotus feet of Lord Shiva. |
