In ancient times, Maharshi Vyasa composed the cosmic plays of Lord Shiva in Brahmottar Khanda of Skanda Purana in the Sanskrit language. Later, in the year 1640, Shridhar Swami with the divine inspiration from Lord Shiva described the same cosmic plays of Lord Shiva in Prakrut which is a vernacular based on Sanskrit in his book named “Shri Shivaleelamrut”. Since then this sacred book has been a divine inspiration and a great source of spiritual strength for countless aspirants and devotees of Lord Shiva around the globe.
With the intention of making the contents of Shri Shivaleelamrut easier to understand for the Marathi speaking population, in the year 2007, on the auspicious day of Mahashivaratri, we published a Marathi translation of Shri Shivaleelamrut book in Maharashtra state, India, called “Sartha Shri Shivaleelamrut”. After the tremendous response and growing demand for this book, we decided to translate the same Shri Shivaleelamrut book in English for the very first time to reach and inspire more aspirants and devotees worldwide.
This 376-pager is divided into 15 Adhyayas (chapters), talks about leading a righteous path towards the Ultimate Truth of Self-Realization. This book also enlist various acts which are the root cause of all the sufferings, sorrow & pain. This sacred scripture cautions us from committing such acts. This book talks about various consequences of such wrongful acts, but at the same time, in the form of a true Guru, teaches us the steps to follow on the Path towards Self-Realization.
The best part about Shrishivaleelamrut is that it is a timeless piece and is above caste, creed, religion and other boundaries. Spirituality is relevant at all times, anywhere in the world and benefits people in different walks of life. Human mind is the same everywhere, as an American's sorrow is not different from an Indian's. And Shrishivleelamrut is concerned with human mind and it guides all possible mentalities to emerge stronger. So there is no reason why someone should not be reading it.
With the inspiration and blessing of Lord Shiva we have attempted to translate and make this sacred scripture available to the English speaking population. In the form of this book we are offering our sincere and humble prayers at the lotus feet of Lord Shiva Shankar.
